

James Franklin Mullens, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Born August 9, 1928 in Calvin, W.V., he was a son of the late Frank and Blanche (Hamrick) Mullens. James proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War Era in which he earned the Purple Heart. He was employed with BF Goodrich for over 34 years from which he retired in 1991. James was an active member of the North Church of Christ and enjoyed woodworking in his shop. He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta (Bennett) Mullens of Fort Wayne; son, Jim (Terry) Mullens of Knoxville, TN; daughters, Lea Ann (Jose) Ramirez of Waterville, ME., Alice Mullens of Palm Bay, FL., Donna (Scott) Oswalt of Fort Wayne, and Lorraine Sabina of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Benny (Louise) Mullens of Calvin, WV. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Mullens; and 13 siblings. Memorial Service will be 6:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Inurnment will be at a later date at West Virginia Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation.
