John Lloyd Byers, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Golden Years Homestead. Born October 24, 1925 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late John F. Byers and Ethyl M. (Arnold) Widner. John proudly served in the US Army for 2 years during WWII. He retired in 1987 after 43 years as a contractor with J.B. Construction Inc. and was also a member of the American Legion. Surviving are his daughter, Judith A. (Jeffrey) Riecken of Fort Wayne; his son, John G. (Victoria) Byers of Batesville, Ind.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Gloria M. Byers in 2011; 5 sisters; and two brothers. Funeral Service will be at 12:30pm on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery.
