John Thomas Hay Sr., 86, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at The Heritage of Fort Wayne. Born December 18, 1929 in Fort Wayne, John proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War era. He was a Police Sergeant with the FWPD for 20 years and was also employed with NAVL for 17 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou (Oser) Hay of Fort Wayne; daughter, Judy (Gary) Koontz of Fort Wayne; son, John Hay Jr. of Ione, Calif.; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul & Harold; and loving grandson, Ryan Koontz. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10:00am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4-7pm at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road., Fort Wayne. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Worship for Shut-ins. .
