John R. Pontius

On Monday, February 23,2021 John Robert (Bob) Pontius, loving husband and

father of four children entered Life Eternal at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort

Wayne, Indiana.

John was born on May 14, 1934 to Burgess(Bud) Pontius and Maxine (Clark)

Pontius in Tipton, Indiana. The family later moved to Peru, Indiana. He was

preceded in death by his parents, Burgess and Maxine, three sisters, Colletta

Nelson, Jeanne Ewing and Susie Halley, two brothers, Jim and Bill Pontius and a

daughter, Julie Acord.

After graduating from high school, John enlisted in the army and was

immediately sent to boot camp and then to the Korean War. He served in the

field driving supplies to the front lines. When he returned to the states, he

served as a General's aide in Chicago.

John is survived by his wife, Alice, daughter Pam(James)Mikesell of Boone,

Iowa; sons John II (Suzette) of Hoschton, GA and David (Dalene) of Tucson, AZ; a

sister, Mary (Earl) Decker of New Haven, IN; 11 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren

and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

The family will greet visitors at North Park Community Church, 7160 Flutter

Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Saturday, February 27 from 9-11 a.m. with a

Memorial Service 11-12. Burial at a later date. Memorials can be made to North Park Community Church.
