Jose Eduardo Mendez Sr., 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away on July 14, 2016. Born on December 4, 1936, in Cuidad Valles, San Luis Potosi, Mexico; he was a member of Joy Fellowship Church, New Haven and was retired from Dutch Made Cabinets.
Jose is survived by his children, Margie Mendez, Jesus Mendez, Magdalena (Toni) Mendez, Carmen Mendez, Marisela (Ernesto) Barrientos, Francisco Mendez, Aurora (Steve) Penny, Jose Mendez Jr, Tammy (Ruben) Martinez, David (Tram) Mendez and Celia (Heath) Johnson; and brother, Filemon Mendez. He leaves behind five generations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalena Lara Mendez; sons, Jorge Mendez, Jose Luis Mendez, Celso Mendez and Gerardo Mendez; daughter, Maria Mendez.
Celebration service is 10am, Saturday July 23, at Joy Fellowship Church, 109 Moeller Road, New Haven, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Friday July 22, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Joy Fellowship Church, New Haven.
