Phyllis Edna Peters, 90, of Spencerville, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at The Cedars of Leo. Born on December 19, 1927, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Harold “Hap” and Mildred (Baals) Norton. She was a member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church, Spencerville, and was a proud homemaker, wife and mother to her eight children. She was an accomplished amateur photographer; she loved sewing, poetry, and playing the piano and organ.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Perkins, Bruce (Bobbi) Peters, Wendy (Joe) Deskins, Raymond (Joann) Peters II, Rebecca (Bruce) Bell, Phyllis Scharlach, Gary (Lisa) Peters, and Mark Peters; sister, June Snyder; 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J Peters; sisters, Mildred Roberts, Gloria Knepper, Betty Lou Worman, and Florence Norton; and brothers, Harold and Jim Norton.
Funeral service will be 11am, Thursday, May 31, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling from 9am, until time of service. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to Riley Children’s Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.
