Ruth Y Krauss, 78 of Milan, Michigan, went into the loving arms of her Jesus the evening of January 29, 2022. She joined her husband of 60 years, Raymond and their beloved son, Raymond "Ernie" Krauss. Ruth was born on June 2, 1943 to Wendell and Ernestine (Dewey) Morey.
Ruthie was known and loved by many. She held the titles of Wife, Mother, and Grandmother with honor. Those who knew Ruthie, knew how much she loved Jesus, her family, horses, Bichon Frise', cooking and baking, and simply loving on others. She was a master of her kitchen and would never fail to come up with countless meals and treats to share. Her love for cooking was stemmed in her desire to make sure each person felt loved and cared for. She would never let anyone leave her home with an empty stomach or empty hands.
Ruth was whole-heartedly devoted to her family. Every day for years, Ruth's husband, Raymond would come in after farming and before going to his full-time job at night, to a hearty meal such as roast beef, creamed mashed potatoes, vegetable and desserts. Her love for horses was shared with her daughter Cindy. They would ride their horses together through cornfields and along dirt roads when they weren't traveling to 4-H or horse shows. Both Ruthie and her son Ernie shared the same "never met a stranger" personality and considered every person as a friend they hadn't met yet!
She cherished the name Grandma and the role that came with it. Some memories shared by the grandchildren include overnight trips to the lake house with "more than you eat" pizza, watching movies, and playing video games all night. Then waking up to the aroma of a special breakfast of eggs benedict, bacon and orange juice frothed in the blender. Additional memories include fishing, and catching crawdads and turtles in the lake. One special turtle has finished high school and college and now currently resides in Chicagoland with a granddaughter.
Ruthie was active in her church groups and volunteering to help wherever she could. She was in the truest sense, a social butterfly being outgoing, very charismatic and charming while seeking to make each person feel included and encouraged. Her jokes and comments always initiated a contagious laughter, and she always could lift the mood of an entire room without fail. Her beloved Park Place Senior Living became her home and family in her later years. Words cannot express how blessed Ruthie was to be loved and cared for by their staff and residents.
Ruthie will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Joseph) Russell, her brother Buck Morey and family, and cousin Gale Vere and family. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Matthew Krauss, Nick (Haleigh) Krauss, Micah (Ariel) Russell, Bethany Russell, Abigail Russell, and Joel Russell.
Private memorial service and burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery, in Adrian, Michigan.
