Steven was born in Indianapolis, IN and raised in Tipton, IN before moving to Hartford City, IN.
Steven was 1963 graduate of Hartford City High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. He and Sara then married in March of 1968. Steven served as a paramedic at Marion General Hospital for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sara Neary; daughters, Lara Michelle (Edward) Mattson and Deborah S. (Scott) Sowerby; six grandchildren, Matthew Atkinson, Brian Atkinson, John Atkinson, David Sowerby, Ashley Sowerby and Elizabeth Piercy; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. Neary and Laurann (Pentecost) Neary.
A celebration of life will be held on June 7, 2025 from 1 to 4 pm at Wesleyan Church, 1301 S Walnut St, Hartford City, IN 47348.
