Victor Fredrick Bobay, 87 passed away on Saturday, November 13 2021 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born on July 20, 1934 to parents Sylvester J. and Louise K. Bobay in Fort Wayne.
He belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he also attended elementary school. He graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1953. While at Concordia, Vic excelled in football, basketball and track. Vic was also Vice President of his class. His college years included Valparaiso University and International Business College. From 1957 to 1959, he served in the US Army, Corp of Engineers. He was stationed in Metz, France. After his return he worked at various construction companies and eventually started working for the City of Fort Wayne – Street Engineering Dept., until his retirement in 2002.
Throughout his life he was involved in the growth of Camp Lutherhaven. He was a lifeguard and counselor as well as helped with the building of many of the structures including the Pavilion. He also served as the chairman of the board for Lutherhaven. Vic also served as the President of the Alumni Association for Concordia Lutheran High School.
His biggest pleasure was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing and fishing throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn A Bobay; children, Valarie A. (William) Porter, Dean A. (Claudia) Bobay, Douglas L. (Cheryl) Archer, Donald P. deceased (Theresa) Archer and Diane M. Archer; grandchildren, Heather (Patrick), Clinton (Kayla), Magnum, Brandi, Meagan, Brandy (Brad), Brett (Kari), Cassie, Jeremy (Jill), Jillian (Tom), Cari and Tom; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild, with 3 on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vic is also survived by his sister, Vera A. Springer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura F. Bobay; his brother, Norbert; and sister-in-law, Donna; brother-in-law, James A. Springer; as well as his parents.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1126 South Barr Street, Fort Wayne, with calling from 9:30am, until time of service. Calling will also be held from 4 to 8pm, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne.
Memorial donations in Vic's honor may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Camp Lutherhaven, Concordia Lutheran High School, or Worship A-New. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.HockemeyerMillerFH.com for the Bobay family.
