

Gary was born May 30, 1948 in Haibach, Austria. He was the oldest child of Troy G. Tippins Jr., and Martha (Steindl) Tippins. Gary was a military child and lived in Austria, Italy, Germany, and multiple locations within the US. He was nine years old when he first came to the United States aboard the ship USS General Darby. As a child, Gary learned to speak multiple languages fluently, including German, English, and French.
Gary graduated high school in Junction City, Kansas and attended Kansas State University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming. Shortly after college, Gary went on to have a very successful career as a computer programmer for John Deere International in Bremerhaven, Germany, as well as May Company and IBM in Colorado and Saint Louis.
Gary battled mental illness the majority of his adult life. He was fortunate to find his home at Brookside Assisted Living. Gary’s family is forever grateful to the Brookside staff and community for their loving care, especially in his later years. Gary was a loving son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle, and he was deeply cherished by all of his family.
Gary is survived by two sisters, Linda (Tippins) Haehn (husband Steven Haehn) of Loveland and Patricia Tippins of Colorado Springs; five nieces and nephews, Christine (Haehn), Ritchie (husband Taylor) of Fort Collins, Katharine (Haehn) Ross (husband Bryan) of Wellington, Stephanie (Haehn) FitzPatrick (husband Connor) of Milliken, Troy Romero (partner Trevor) of Pittsburg, Michelle (Romero) Arriola (husband Diego) of Broomfield, and six grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Mason, Dustin, Michaela, Brecken, Weston, and Kaia.
Viewing will be Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 10:00am, followed by a Rosary at 10:30am, Catholic Mass at 11:00am, and a reception at 12:00pm, all at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 US-85, Colorado Springs, CO 80911. A Christian burial will be held for family at Evergreen Cemetery. The family invites those who knew and loved Gary to join in celebrating his life at St. Dominic Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary's memory to Catholic Charities of Central Colorado or National Alliance on Mental Illness.
