Mary Boknecht

Mary Alice Boknecht, 75, of Fountain, CO died peacefully at home at 8:30 pm Friday, July 8, 2022 after a along struggle with neurological disease. She was born June 22, 1947 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Edwin and Frieda Schumacher. She married Louis Boknecht on November 28, 1970 and he survives.

Also surviving are her brother, Arnold Schumacher(Delena) of Pierre, SD, sister-in-law Joanne Schumacher of Bloomington, MN, sons Tim of Tulsa, OK, Scott (Mandee) of Aurora, CO and Mark (Jamie) of West Palm Beach, FL, four grandchildren (Aydann, Carter, Chance, Brinley), and several nephews and nieces and cousins.

Her parents and brother (Henry) proceeded her in death.

Mary spent her childhood in Aberdeen, SD and went on to graduate from Aberdeen High School and the Aberdeen School of Commerce . She lived in multiple states while making her career raising the family. She became a long time resident of Atchison, KS. She volunteered and was active in the church and was the Trinity Lutheran School Librarian for 22 years.

Mary's first priority was always her family. Her sons and then grandchildren, were her pride and joy. Mary loved quilting, scrapbooking, reading and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends throughout her life.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4444 Moonbeam Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80916 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the service hour.

Interment will be held at a later date at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
