Anthony C. White, 81, of Franklin, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Atrium Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Judith A. (Ksiezopolski) White; parents Cyril and Ernestine (DeHart) White; siblings Daniel White and MaryAnne (White) Cotter. Tony is survived by his daughters, Maryanne White, and Stephanie (Rob) Eggert; two grandchildren, Sydney and Silas Eggert; a sister, Carolyn Unger; a brother, Mike White; dear friends Sterling Perkins and Russ Hudson and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Tony was born in Ashland, Kentucky, but moved to Middletown as a child as his father transferred to ARMCO Middletown Works. He was a 1963 graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School and earned an associate’s degree in Engineering. He worked at ARMCO in electronic and then technical/computer repair starting in 1963 and retiring in January 2006.
Tony proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969 serving two tours in Vietnam and Thailand. He was a dedicated veteran, serving as Commander of VFW Post 3809 in Middletown from June 2009 to June 2011 during his lifelong membership. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 218.
Tony inherited his “green thumb” from his mother and loved to grow plants from seed, raising enough for a huge garden but also being able to give plants to half the city of Middletown every spring. He did the same each harvest, canning most famously pickles and peppers, and then distributing to the masses. He created a secret recipe for cole slaw that he made every Thursday that was a staple of the weekly VFW and American Legion Fish Frys. If you lived in Middletown, you have most likely had the pleasure of enjoying the fruits of his labor.
Tony always took care of everyone, family, friend or stranger. He helped his wife Judy care for both of their mothers who each moved into their house and tenderly took care of Judy during two battles with breast cancer until her death in 2022. He loved beach vacations with his family and rooting for the Reds, the Bengals and University of Dayton Flyers basketball. Tony knew no strangers, just people with whom he had yet to become friends.
Visitors may gather on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 9579 Yankee Rd., Springboro at 10am to meet with the family before his Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Procession after Mass to Calvary Cemetery for Interment will follow. A celebration of Tony will take place beginning around 1pm at the VFW Post 3809 in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Tony, carrying on the tradition of donating to St. Jude, a cause that both Tony and Judy held very close to their hearts.
