

Sergeant Dorsey was born on February 2, 1921, in Hominy Falls, West Virginia, the son of the late Ira Hill Dorsey and Zenia Ontee Dorsey.
He attended Richwood High School, Richwood, West Virginia, and class of 1940.
He enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps on February 26, 1941.
He served in Pacific Theater during WWII and participated in the Iwo Jima Invasion.
He married Arlene Hendrickson in 1948.
Sergeant Dorsey retired in 1960 from the U.S.M.C and was employed by the U.S Civil Service from 1963 until his retirement there in 1976. Upon his retirement from the U.S.M.C Boyd attended night school at George Washington University and received his undergraduate degree in 1967.
His final years were kept busy doing the things he loved most. These included travel, skeet shooting, and hunting. From 1971-1996 he and his wife annually went to New York Mills, Minnesota, his wife’s hometown, where he spent a month waterfowl hunting.
Sergeant Dorsey is preceded in death by his son, Jerome; his wife, Arlene; his sisters, Mazel O’Dell and Mildred Karnes; and his infant brother, Basil.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will have a funeral service at Quantico National Cemetery on September 11, 2020 at 11:00am.
