A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, she and her late husband, John Conwell Bass, had lived in New Bern for the past 25 years.
She loved art, music, playing the piano, attending church, sharing fellowship with her many friends and doing water aerobics at Courts Plus. After gallantly recovering from two hip replacements, she succumbed to her battle with bladder cancer.
She is survived by their children Terry Bass Prickett, John Douglas Bass and Gary Edward Bass; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday,April 15 at First Presbyterian Church of New Bern, 400 New Street New Bern, North Carolina 28560 where a reception will follow. Burial will be private.
