He was born Dec. 30, 1932, in West Virginia to George and Nevie Longerbeam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a granddaughter, Lisa Mawyer Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Longerbeam; two sons, Charles Longerbeam Jr. and Richard Longerbeam (Lea); a daughter, Debra Mawyer; three grandchildren, David W. Mawyer, Pamela L. Mawyer and Joshua C. Longerbeam; and four great-grandchildren, Danielle Hamilton, Austin Mawyer, Maximus Mawyer and Leo Chambers.
Chuck was an Army veteran, having served from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of Fredericksburg bowling leagues for more than 20 years.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30. Interment will follow at noon at Oak Hill Cemetery.
