Christine was born to a middle class family in Philadelphia and lived an extraordinary life.
It became evident at an early age that Christine had developmental delays. These would progress to emotional, mental, and severe physical handicaps. From her early teens, through almost her entire life, she required 24/7 supervision to keep her safe from harming herself and others. As the years passed, her physical condition deteriorated. However, miraculously, near her end of life, her mental condition improved. She would say that “God” had helped her to become well. After decades of wishing to live in a “nice home”, she was finally able to do so and spent the last three months of her life in a home where she was happy every day.
She was a perfect gift from God to everyone who interacted with her. The lowest of our brothers and sisters are the ones who give us the opportunity to demonstrate the love of God.
She is survived by her mother, Rita, who dedicated all the days of Christine’s life to being present and available to her; her siblings, Marie, Steve, and Kaz; her nieces, Nicole, Dez, Lisa, Liana, and Ricky; and her great nieces and great nephews. Her loving and dedicated family was the greatest source of pride.
Many thanks to the staff at Western State Hospital where she spent many years; the staff at Hiram Davis, who provided excellent care; and to the staff of Lily Rose Group Home where she was loved and she loved living there. She was the happiest she had ever been in her life at Lily Rose.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mullinsthompsonfredericksburg.com for the Zolnowski family.
