Lynn most recently made her home at Fairview Beach in King George, Virginia, where she cherished having a beautiful view of the Potomac River.
Lynn shared a lifelong connection with her former husband, Donald Smith, the father of their children. She was a devoted mother to Brandon Smith (Shelley), Adrian Chapman (Roy) and Erin Lewis (Nathan). She was the proud and loving grandmother of Nathan Smith, Lily Chapman, Hannah Smith, Ella Lewis, Ava Lewis, and Elijah Chapman — they were the absolute light of her life.
Some of Lynn’s greatest joys came from time spent with her grandchildren. She created magical memories through “Grandma Camp” and her beloved cookie parties, where laughter, creativity, and love always filled the room. Her grandkids adored those moments, just as they adored her gentle spirit, humor, and boundless affection.
She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Marcy Truda (Al) and Debora Winstead; nieces and nephews — Carly, Lyndsay, Joey, Jenny, Jason, and Jordan; and her “bonus grandchildren” — the grandchildren of her sisters — Jonah, Julia, Jason, Grayson, Natalie, Kenly, Jackson, Laura, Henry, Carrie Anne, Kailey, Caroline, Cameron and Kennedy. Her best friends of more than 40 years, Jo and Gina, were like family and shared countless memories with her over a lifetime of laughter and love.
For more than 45 years, Lynn was an inspiring art teacher who shared her passion for creativity and self-expression with generations of students. She was also a dedicated Sunday school teacher and a faithful member of both Welborne United Methodist Church and Shady Grove United Methodist Church.
Lynn was an artist, a justice warrior, and above all, a radiant soul who loved deeply and saw the beauty in everyone. She had the rare gift of making people feel seen, valued, and special. Authentic to the core, she lived with compassion and courage, leaving behind a legacy of love, art, and faith.
Her family and friends will miss her terribly but take comfort in knowing how blessed they were to have called her theirs. Fly free, beautiful blue eyes. We love you forever.
A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 4825 Pouncey Tract Road, Short Pump, VA 23059.
In honor of Lynn’s joyful spirit, she asked that those attending wear bright, cheerful colors to her celebration of life — a reflection of the warmth, light, and love she brought to everyone who knew her.
May her spirit forever dance along the shoreline and rest peacefully by the waves she loved so much.
In keeping with Lynn’s deep commitment to missions, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the mission funds of Welborne United Methodist Church or Shady Grove United Methodist Church.
