Mr. Welborn was a lifelong resident of Virginia. He was employed for a number of years as a driver with Central Transport in Fredericksburg.
Mr. Welborn is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Welborn; three sons, Shaun, David Jr. and Alan Welborn; three grandchildren; four brothers, Robert, James, Michael and Ernest Welborn; and two sisters, Martha Brown and Shannon Baldwin.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway, where a funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 22. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
