Just heard of Mr. Crawford's passing. I had him as a teacher for 2 years while at NSHS. I can remember the first day of class and the first witty thing he told the class. He was always making people smile. So sorry to hear about his passing. I know he will be remember fondly by many including me.

Mr. Crawford was an extraordinary man.  He had a way of making people smile just by entering the room.  I had the pleasure of taking a trip throughout Europe with both Mr. and Mrs. Crawford back in '88. I still reminisce about that experience he blessed me with.  His caring ways inspired me to also be a teacher. I am very grateful for having known him.

My prayers and condolences to the Crawford family.  I was saddened to hear of the loss of such a truly inspirational man.  Mr. Crawford made such an impact on my future, as well as my experiences in high school.  I will never forget my trip to Europe with him in 1989--such great memories, as well as his guidance and suggestion of NC Wesleyan College.

Coach Crawford was a gifted teacher, mentor, football coach and friend.  I learned a lot about football from him, most of which I've forgotten.  What I have remembered were the more important lessons on life.  He had an ease about him that allowed him to relate very well to young people.  Those high school years were made a little easier for me by having someone like Coach Crawford around.  He was always there to listen.  I have many fond memories of Coach Crawford that I will forever cherish.  He made a positive impact on my life and for that I am grateful.  God bless you, Coach Crawford.  I will always remember you.

My father was a lot of things to a lot of people but to me he was just my Daddy. I will forever cherish the memories of he and I "taking the road less traveled" and singing the camp grenada song while driving in the car. He was an awesome "car dancing" partner. I am thankful for the beautiful love story that my parents shared, it wasn't perfect but it was real, I know that my daddy loved my mama with all of his heart, and I strive to have a love story like theirs. But most of all my daddy was a wonderful "Paw Paw" even though he wasn't feeling well he always made sure to pay attention to Austin and make him feel special. I will always remember the wonderful times we had and the honorable man that he was. I love and miss you very much Daddy.

These pages of sentiments are a true testimony to the man Mr. Crawford was and all of the lives he touched. His gift of making everyone feel special made him an extraordinary teacher. He taught me 5th grade Social Studies at King George and I still have the John Denver Live double album that he gave me at the end of the school year. His class was always filled with music and good humor. I'm so very for your loss.

Mr. Crawford was my Social Studies teacher in 1975 in King George and I have never forgotten him. He was such a fun teacher and I will always remember him talking about his favorite baseball player at the time, Catfish Hunter and and his favorite band that year The Starland Vocal Band. So sad to hear this news and my thoughts and prayers are with the Crawford family.

Donnie was a good friend and teacher--he will be missed.  His family will have the happy memories that he left them to get through this sad time.  May God be with you and all his family.  Just remember that Donnie is now in God's Hands.

I didn't actually have a class with Mr. Crawford at NSHS, but I knew him. Didn't everyone? He was such a wonderful man and teacher. My thoughts are with you. He will be missed, and I know I'm not alone in saying I will never forget him.

I've known Donnie all my life.  We went through elementary and high school together. He was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew,  He always had a big smile on his face, one that lit up the whole world. The last time I saw him was just a few months ago as he was crossing the Wal-Mart parking lot. He smiled and commented about me riding in my ragtop and wishing he had one.  I was so sad to hear of his passing, but I know he was struggling with many health issues and he is no longer in pain.  God has a new angel now. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family at this difficult time.

 I enjoyed coaching with Don. I remember fondly the bus rides, practices, and many meets.  The kids loved and respected him. Don was a great role model. I am sorry to hear about Don and send hugs and prayers.

Hello, My name is Patricia Farrell, and I was in his American History class my Junior year ('99-'00). I will always remember the first time we met. It was at open house and when I walked in I must have looked unhappy or down because he said "Every year I have at least one "Gilda Grump" and you are it." From then on he always called me Gilda, making me feel so special and important. As one of my most favorite teachers, he definitely made my high school experience one to remember. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Donnie was a great friend in high school, and I reconnected with him while I was a school administrator in Spotsylvania. His tremendous influence on his family and extended families that all educators have, will never be forgotten. Gone too soon, but what an impact! Donald Crawford was by far one of my favorite teachers when I was in high school. He made History exciting for me when no one else could. I also enjoyed my free time in the library with Mrs. Crawford. They both made high school much more of a pleasure for a girl who felt very out of her element. I had just shared a story that Coach Crawford had told us with my own son a couple of weeks ago. I can only hope that he will get to experience having a teacher who cares so much about his job and his students as Mr. Crawford did. My heart is with the family.
