

George Wilkinson, 87, of Spotsylvania County passed away at home on Monday, October 11, after a gallant battle with Parkinson’s disease. George was originally from Wilmerding, PA. He graduated from Carnegie Tech University in Pittsburgh, served in the United States Army, and had a 40-plus year career in the Printing industry. George is predeceased by his parents, George and Helen Wilkinson, his brother, Alan Wilkinson, and his first wife, Bernie Sullivan Wilkinson.
George was devoted to his wife, Ruth Garwood Wilkinson, of the home. In addition, he is survived by three children, Bud Wilkinson of Fairfax, Va; Todd Wilkinson, of Athens, Ga; and Karen Galligan, of Fredericksburg; grandchildren, Quinn Hill, of Reston, Va; and Kate Wilkinson, of Arlington, Va.; and greatgrandson, Riley Hill. George also is deeply loved and mourned by Ruth’s children and grandchildren and enjoyed being Pap to Erik Hurtado, of Columbus, Oh.
To those who knew him, George will be forever remembered as a loyal partner, a fierce competitor, a man of integrity, a true and tenderhearted friend, and a diehard Steeler fan. His children remember him as their childhood role model.
