James was preceded in death by his father Ernest, his mother Oza, his brother Reece, his brother Fred, and his wife Sandy.
He is survived by his brothers, Bert and Ray; his sister Elizabeth Medley; his daughter Jessica Hounshell
(David); his grandchildren, Amber Young, David Hounshell, Jr., Austin Hounshell, Kaitlynn Hounshell, Tyler Hounshell; and multiple nieces and nephews.
James worked for Brooks Lumber in Bowling Green, Virginia for over ten years. James was always so full of life and energy, most of the time more than his grandchildren. James lived with his great nephew David Johnson, Jr and family in Virginia Beach for about 3 years, where he frequented Flipper McCoy’s, an arcade on the Boardwalk. He would spend his evenings sharing pork rinds and peanut M&M’s with the dogs.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing James is encouraged to attend.
