

John was born in New Haven, CT on September 7, 1935, the son of the late John A. Teeple and Thelma E. (Conklin) Arter (Charles).
He entered the United States Marine Corps on December 13, 1953 as a private reporting for duty for basic training at Parris Island, SC. John loved the Marine Corps and decided to make it his career. His first duties were in the Security field as MP followed by cross county chasing; he entered the utilities field ending as a Utilities Chief and Utilities Foreman. His duty stations included South Korea, Vieques, PR, Lake Mead Base, NV, Brooklyn Navy Yard, NY, Okinawa, Japan, Vietnam, Camp Lejeune, NC, and final duty station at MCB Quantico, VA. He was the NCOIC of night crew maintenance at Quantico, VA. He retired from the Marine Corps with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant on June 30, 1973. He entered federal service at MCB Quantico, VA, Maintenance Division in the plumbing shop and later as the Tool Shop Foreman.
Mr. Teeple leaves his beloved wife of 42 years, Karen (Healy) Teeple.
John has four children, Jeffrey C. Teeple (Kim), (grandchildren: Cherisse (Jory), Christopher (Lizz), and Alexis) of Crestline, OH; Mary M.E. Stoner (grandchildren: Brandy (Bruce) and Joshua) of Ashland, OH; John E. Teeple (Kim), (grandchildren: Morgan (Scott) and Zachary) of Fredericksburg, VA; Theresa M. Atkinson (Derik) and (grandchildren: William (Dixie), Denielle (Dax), Kristina (Cody), Jessi (Brody), Trevyn, and Kayden of Preston, ID; and sixteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister, Joan E. Silvernail.
John had many enjoyable hobbies that included fishing, gardening, talking with his friends and above all spending time with his family!
Visitation hours will be held at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 from 12pm-2pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, followed by a service. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Gardner, MA.
