

Johnny was born on August 30, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised on his family farm in Rockwood, Tenn. He attended Cumberland County High School and after graduation entered the United States Navy serving 4 years during the Korean War. Upon leaving the Navy he went on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree.
He and his beloved wife Betty moved to Fredericksburg in 1962 where he worked for the Department of Defense and raised a family. Following his retirement they moved and resided in Harrison, Tennessee.
At the time of his death he had relocated back to Fredericksburg and resided with his children in one of his multiple homes here.
After a long hard fight with cancer and other complications, he passed away at home surrounded by his children and grand children whom he loved dearly.
During his many years in Fredericksburg, he owned local businesses, acquired real estate and worked for the federal government as a physicist for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty as well as his parents, Johnny Miller Sr. and Gladys Ellen also his sister Anna Louise “Bubbles” Miller, who passed away at age 12 of Lukemia.
Survivors include his son Jonathan “Rusty” Miller of Hartwood, Va., his daughter, Cynthia “LuLu” Miller and her fiancé William “BeJoe” Garwood of Spotsylvania. His granddaughter Nicole Miller of Hartwood and her fiancé Kevin Monto of Manassas, Va. his grandson Frank J. Miller of Spotsylvania and his fiancée Erica Kern-Simms. Great grandson Jason R. Heflin of Hartwood, his adopted grandchildren, Harley Garwood and Raymond Titlow both of Spotsylvania, Va.
Other survivors included his brother Claude “Nucky” Miller and sister in law, Diane “Harriet” Miller, nephew Claude “Scott” Miller and niece Shirley “Shellie” Miller all of Rockwood, Tennessee. He is also survived by a sister in law, Joan Dison, Brother in law, Terry Dison and nephew, Erich Dison all of Henderson Tennessee.
The family will receive friends Thursday December 8, 2011 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service Fredericksburg Chapel 1621 Jeff Davis Hwy. from 7-9 PM. A graveside service will be conducted Friday December 9 at 12 noon at Stafford Memorial Park on Shelton Shop Rd. in Stafford.
Pallbearers for the service are Donnie Hockaday, Stan Falvey, Johnny “Fever” Roark, Donald Stern, Roy Bolin, Cody Dickerson, Alex Collins and Josh Barnes.
