Lillian V. Varner, 97, of Spring Arbor in Fredericksburg went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. She was born August 6, 1920 in Prince William County, the daughter of J. Lester Mauck and Esta Stoneberger Mauck.
Ms. Varner was a homemaker who loved to sew, garden, and cook. After her sons were old enough, she went back to work as an office manager for Korvette Furniture Store until it closed. She was a charter member of the Arlington Church of the Brethren, and later a beloved member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Snell.
She is survived by her sons, Edward H. Varner of Spotsylvania, and Michael T. Varner (Sarah) of Valle Crucis, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Clarence E. Varner; her brothers, Melvin L. Mauck, and Weldon Mauck; her sisters, Edith Vance, and Annie Andes; and her daughter-in-law, Vivian (Peachie) Varner.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park at 2:00pm.
