

He was a 1973 graduate of James Monroe High School and received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Mary Washington College. The majority of his career was spent in the insurance industry. He was a kind and caring person and spent many hours supporting and volunteering for the American Cancer Society, the Fredericksburg SPCA, and Friends of the Rappahannock.
He is survived by his son, L. Philip Cox IV of Fredericksburg; daughter, Donna Krauss of Fredericksburg; mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Cox of Fredericksburg; granddaughter, Amanda Krauss; three siblings, Betsy Kiley and husband Jim of Fredericksburg, Warren Cox and wife Monica of Spotsylvania, and Caroline Helsabeck and husband Charles of King, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, L. Philip “Skippy” Cox Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Presbyterian Church of Fredericksburg at 4:00 PM.
