

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Clifton “Buddy” Embrey, her parents William McMaster Provan (father), Eleanor Steffens (mother), Lori Pocock Borbas (daughter), 2 grandchildren Brittany and Bethanny Trainor and brother-in-law Ike Carson. She is survived by her son George “Chip” Pocock, II (Pamela) of Whitsett NC, Stephanie R. Trainor (Ward) Fredericksburg VA. 6 Grandchildren, Dustin Pocock, Beau Pocock (Natasha), Kelsey Brown (Jaren), Wardlow “Brett” E. Trainor, IV, Patrick Borbas, and Emily Borbas. One Great Grandchild Elijah Brown. Marilyn was the eldest of six children and is survived by William Provan (Maxine), Juanita Carson, Carolyn Lloyd Ellison (Ron), Harry Provan (Cindy), Pete Provan (Cathie) and a Special Cousin Carol Mandel.
Marilyn worked at the National Bank of Fredericksburg from 1977-2007. Marilyn worked her way from loan officer secretary to become the first female Vice President of the commercial lending department. She served as a Deacon and treasurer at Hartwood Presbyterian Church, as well as Treasurer for the Lake Seminole Estates in Seminole Florida.
In her free time, she was an avid golfer and was a member of the Fredericksburg Country Club. In 2001 Marilyn again conquered a “man’s world” and became the first female President of The Fredericksburg Country Club. Her favorite pastimes were watching her local favorite sports teams (Redskins, Nationals and Caps), traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday February 15, 2023 from 6-8PM at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service (Fredericksburg Chapel) where a funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 11AM with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. A reception for family and friends to celebrate Marilyn will follow the graveside service at the funeral home.
