September 8, 1964 – September 6, 2025
With broken hearts, we share the sudden and tragic passing of our father, Melton Page Lockhart, who passed in a car accident on September 6, 2025, just two days before his 61st birthday.
Mel was a man of deep feelings, quiet strength, and a soul that spoke through art, song, and verse. A lifelong creator of music and poetry, he found joy in writing lyrics and crafting poems that reflected the beauty, heartbreak, and humor of life. Whether he was playing guitar, scribbling in a notebook, or thumbing a tune in the kitchen with his coffee, Mel lived through the art he created.
Above all, he was a family man. Mel was the deeply proud father of three daughters, Moe, Mandy, and Sam. Melesa Page Lockhart, Mandalynn Lockhart Karamanis(Andreas Karamanis), and Samantha Michelle Lockhart Griffin(Joshua Griffin) —names you may have heard once or twice, as he never missed a chance to share how much we meant to him.
Though, His greatest joy, came from being “Poppa” to his five beloved grandchildren:
Evianna Salynn, Lennox Elijah, Addison Byrd, Kora Marie, and Demetria Vera.
Their laughter was his favorite melody, and their hugs, his most treasured gifts.
Mel will be remembered for his tender heart, his creative spirit, his deep devotion to sweets, coffee, peanut butter, his friends and family, and the way music and poetry seemed to follow him wherever he went. His absence leaves a silence that only love, memory, and music can begin to fill.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Melton "Mel" Lockhart on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The service will be held at: Indian Acres Club of Thornburg Clubhouse, 6437 Morris Rd, Spotsylvania, VA 22551
This will be a time to honor Melton’s memory, share stories, and surround one another with love and support. All who knew and loved him are welcome.
If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Shannon at 540-260-5456 for entry.
Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this time.
