He was born on July 7, 1958, in Tucson, Arizona to the late Oris and Doris Faye (Ladewig) Petty.
Mikel was husband to Angel Petty. He was also former husband of Darlene Littleman Petty (deceased) with whom he had four children with: Mikel (Mary) Petty, Paul (Terryn) Petty, Jennifer Petty Hall, and Jonathan Petty. He is also survived by daughter Jeana Randle and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers: David Petty, Carl Petty, Steven Petty and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on December 12, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, located at 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia, 22401.
The funeral service will follow at the same location, commencing at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1902 William Street, Fredericksburg, VA, at 12:00 pm.
