She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, JR Blanton; her daughters, Sharon Payne (Gray) and Dorothy Vigano (Dan); her son, Ellis Campbell (Jenny); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and three siblings.
Born in Washington, D.C., Patty spent much of her adult life in Virginia before retiring from Federal Government Service after a 38-year career. Following her retirement, she relocated to North Carolina, where she became an active member of the local bass club and dedicated herself to environmental cleanup efforts, particularly focusing on the lakes she loved to fish. Her passion for genealogy inspired her to contribute extensively to Find-a-Grave, showcasing her commitment to preserving family histories.
A spirited competitor throughout her life, she excelled in roller skating, coached youth soccer, participated in tournament fishing, and enjoyed bowling leagues. Her deep love for animals was evident in her insistence on always having at least two pets of each kind. She affectionately named her mobile home camper “Ark-y” as a tribute to her cherished animal companions.
Her faith in Christ was a cornerstone of her life. Patty will be honored in a private ceremony of Christian burial at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a favorite charity in Patty’s memory.
