Weedon- Robert Melvin of Fredericksburg passed away on February 11, 2016. He was 94. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Virginia C. Weedon; daughter Rebecca Sue Weedon; siblings Tommy Weedon, James Weedon, Francis Weedon, and George Weedon; and his twin brother Milton Weedon. Melvin attended Old Chancellor School. He is survived by his son Robert C. Weedon, daughter-in-law Ann Weedon, granddaughters Brooke A. Weedon and Meghan E. Weedon, sister Mary Ann Burruss of Mississippi, and numerous nieces and nephews. Melvin was in the Army during World War II. He worked at the FMC Plant, Wilson Brothers Lumber Company, and retired from Huttig Sash and Door Company. Melvin lived his life for his family. He and Virginia built their home themselves in 1954 and spent the rest of their lives making it a little oasis of prize worthy gardens. They loved having people come by to spend time in their yard with them, especially their grandchildren. Melvin will be remembered for keeping his home, yard, and gardens impeccable. He drove his 1969 yellow el-Camino for as long as anyone can remember. He had a big smile and wave for everyone who passed by and was always willing to help out a friend or neighbor. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, February 16th at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association. He was loved by his family and will be remembered always.
