Roger was born on May 5, 1950, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Duane Robert McCrum and Norma Jean McCrum. He grew up spearfishing and lifeguarding in Honakaa, Hawaii, where his parents served as missionaries. Later, his family moved to Silva, Missouri, to build Missionary Acres, a missionary retirement community.
Gospel-centered missions was central to Roger's life from an early age. At twenty, he answered God's call to be a preacher. While completing his master's degree at Tennessee Temple University in 1973, Roger married Darlene Annette Joy, who shared his burden for missions. They joined Baptist International Missions, Inc. and began serving as missionaries to Ghana, West Africa, later moving to South Africa. For over forty years, they served the Lord together while raising four children. Last August, they celebrated fifty years of marriage.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, four children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister.
