Shirley Ann Zimmerman

Shirley Ann Zimmerman of Port Royal, Virginia passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at 88 years young. Born on April 28, 1937, in Williamsport, PA to Jasper and Carrie Pysher. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cat mom (Callie & Chloe). She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. William Zimmerman and great grandson Malakai Zimmerman.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy and her husband Sheldon Simonovich and her son Scott and his wife Margaret Zimmerman. Her grandchildren Tabitha Zimmerman, Stephanie Simonovich, DJ Zimmerman, Zach and his wife Kaitlyn Simonovich, Kate and her husband Greyson Strouse and Eric Zimmerman. Her great grandchildren, Melina, Micah, Savannah, and Mason. Shirley is also survived by her older sister Phyllis (Honey) Horton.

Gram was a homemaker and active member of the church who helped with childcare throughout her life. She adored all her cats throughout the years and was the “crazy cat lady.” Gigi enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan going to hockey, football, and baseball games. Being able to attend game three of the Stanley Cup Finals with her son and granddaughter was a memory she never forgot.

Mom never backed down from a challenge and was always there to support anyone that needed anything. Memories on the river, at the beach or on the lake will be cherished forever.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA. Visitors will be received from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with the service immediately following.
