

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Laura McPherson Kovalik; his son, Stephen Edward Kovalik (Barbara) of Fredericksburg, VA; his grandson, Stephen Alexander Kovalik of Fredericksburg, VA; and his brother, Jeffery John Kovalik(Sandra) of Bethel Park, PA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Michael Kovalik and his mother Geneieve (Snyder) Kovalik.
Stephen received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Robert Morris College Moon Township, PA in 1970.
Stephen was a SP4 in the United States Army with a Honorable Discharge on January 25, 1972 Hq Com MDW Fort Myer,VA.
After his Discharge from the Army, Stephen started a long and distinguished career with the United States government as an Accountant lasting over 46 years. Stephen spent the last 20 years with the National Endowment for the Arts.
Stephen loved baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also enjoyed the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles. Depending on the season one could always find Stephen watching baseball, football, hockey or Nascar. He loved meeting up with his brother for games in Pittsburgh, and he enjoyed meeting up with friends (Matt and Sean) for Nationals or Oriole games.
Another passion of Stephen's was music, especially Pittsburgh Oldies and rock music. He enjoyed going to rock concerts with his son, Stephen and brother, Jeffery. Stephen was a talented dancer and loved going to Oldies dances in the Pittsburgh area, especially at Rural Ridge V.F.D. Rural Ridge, PA.
Stephen was devout Catholic, he was a member of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church where he ushered at the noon mass for over 40 years.
