Virgil Frederick Klaty

Virgil was born 8/1/1930 in Carsonville, MI. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lillian Johnson-Klaty; 2 daughters: Cheri Marshick, daughter, of MI; and Deborah Houston, of Texas; and Linda Hockaday, step-daughter, of Spotsylvania; 3 grandchildren: Donnie Marshick; Crystal Marshick, Kurt Hockaday (Christy) and 6 great grandchildren: Dakota Marshick, Trista Marshick, Vash Marshick, Caleb Hockaday, Daniel Hockaday, and Mason Hockaday. 4 great-great grandchildren: Aubrey and Ella Marshick, and Ryder and Ollie Marshick. Also survived by 1 sister, Ruby Klaty of Carsonville, MI; sisters-in-law, Armeda Beach and Elaine Toner of MI. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Previously deceased was his first wife, Iva, of 50 years in Carsonville, MI; and a brother, Harold Klaty of Carsonville, MI.

Virgil’s family was very important to him and he loved them all. He grew up on a farm in Michigan and recalls him and his siblings tending to many chores including milking cows early in the morning before going to school.

He worked at general construction most of his life.

Virgil loved the Lord and His perfect way, and made his choice as a teenager to serve the Lord, and remained faithful all his days. He often mentioned these verses:” Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God”. And, Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. “

He was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in Korea during the war between 1953-1955. He often talked about his experiences in the war and served as a scrub technician during that time. He saw many war casualties and tried to help each one in his care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg with Jim Holt, Robert Flippo and Grace O’Keefe officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service,
