He was born in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 25, 1986, to Warren and Cathylee Taylor. Brett graduated from Colonial Forge High School in 2004 and received an associate degree from Pikes Peak Community College in May 2012. Brett had received an early decision acceptance to Virginia Tech, but decided he wanted to serve his country before going to college.
Warren Brett was a combat Marine veteran and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2005 to April 2006. After Brett returned from war, he hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Virginia, looking for inner peace. He loved the outdoors, hiking, playing ice hockey and his Washington Capitals. We will miss his beautiful smile and the sparkle in his eyes.
Brett is survived by his parents Cathylee and Paul A. Weaver Jr.; his father, Warren Paul Taylor; his loving siblings, Scott Taylor, Joshua Duke Livermore, Jenna Nicole Taylor, Demi Taylor, Yvonne Taylor, Julia Weaver, Joshua Weaver, Dylan Weaver, Morgan Weaver and Mackenzie McCain. Brett is also survived by his loving maternal grandparents, Paul and Rosemarie Johnson.
His kind heart, quick wit, great sense of humor and gentle spirit will be celebrated at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, on Sunday, May 17. Visitation starts at 1 p.m., and the ceremony at 3 p.m.
The family requests that donations be made to a local homeless shelter of one’s choice, in lieu of flowers.
