Charles Robert Gittins

Bob was born on June 1, 1927 in Sewickley, PA the son of Charles and Helen (McElroy) Gittins who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage in Clinton, PA to Louise Patterson who preceded him in death on December 22, 1998. He was a veteran of the US Navy from 1944 – 1946. Bob belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers for 75 years. He was the oldest living member of the union until his passing. His greatest accomplishment was his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include: one daughter, Gail Ware of Fulton, MO; one sister, Janet Armstrong (David) of Elmhurst, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah Ware Sparks, Charles Gittins Ware, Robert Glen Tucker and James Scott Tucker; seven great grandchildren, Hannah Sparks, Grace Sparks, Parker Sparks, Presley Ware, Scout Tucker, Emmie Ware and Navy Tucker and son-in-law, Archie Tucker. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Tucker in 2009 and three sisters, Louise Cunningham, Marilyn Hollabaugh and Norma Stoffer.

Private family graveside services will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton, MO.
