

David was born on November 20, 1956, in Fulton, MO the son of Robert and Betty (Maddox) Cunningham, who preceded him in death. On September 13, 1980, in Fulton, MO, he was united in marriage to Kitty Bemberger. He and Kitty were faithful members of the Central Christian Church, where he served as the Deacon and Board chair. He worked as a pipefitter, helping build Callaway Nuclear Plant and also ran heavy equipment. David then worked for 30 plus years at Callaway Memorial Gardens as the cemetery superintendent, overseeing daily operations and meticulously maintaining the grounds, retiring in 2019 but continued to work part-time as his health allowed. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time with his two boys fishing and hunting. David’s passion was with anything with a motor in it or ran fast, he loved old cars, restoring tractors, NASCAR, dirt track racing and driving his old car in the local parades. However, his true passion was his family. He enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife, Kitty Cunningham of the home; one daughter, Heather Davenport (Billy) of Paris, MO; two sons, Justin Cunningham (Tammy) of Fulton, MO and Seth Cunningham (Chelsey) of Buffalo, MO; three brothers, Kevin Cunningham (Jo), Kent Cunningham (Kat) and Michael Cunningham; one sister, Linda Brothers (Danny); 10 grandchildren, Trenton Brandl (Chrisee), Devin Brandl (Sharon), Landon Davenport, Sara Beth Davenport, Austin Cunningham, Jaden Cunningham, Molly Cunningham, Emery Cunningham, Everett Cunningham and Eli Cunningham; one great-granddaughter, Marren Brandl; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Bemberger and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ann Linzie; two brothers, Robert Cunningham Jr and Jeffery Cunningham; one grandson, Uriah Cunningham and his father-in-law, Clifton Bemberger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Debo Funeral Home from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Martin and Seth Cunningham officiating.
