James Wayne Chailland

Wayne was born on July 19, 1944 in Kennett, MO the son of Wayne and Verna Lee (Kirby) Chailland who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on June 5, 1965 in Kennett, MO to Barbara Brents. He retired as a recruiter supervisor from the US Army National Guard in 1994. After military retirement, Wayne worked in sales leadership positions for several years. Wayne earned his pilot license, was Masonic 32nd Degree and was a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, archery, horseback riding, listening to music and watching sports. Wayne was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and loved God, his family and our country.

Survivors include: His wife of 58 years, Barbara Chailland of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Chailland (Malinda) and Jason Chailland (Keri); two sisters, Reba Reagan (Stephen), and Carolyn Swafford (deceased), and a brother, Jan Chailland (deceased); six grandchildren, Jilian Knipp, Brittany Rosas, Tiffany Chailland, Alexander Chailland, Alanah Payne and Dylan Kissinger and eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Knipp Jr, Aurora Payne, Sophie Knipp, Lyra Farmer, Axel Payne, Emma Rosas, Lexi Payne and Riley Rosas.

Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at Southside Baptist Church in Fulton, MO with Rev. Tyler Murphy officiating.
