

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Mr. Andrew Jackson Johnson Jr., 86, Gadsden, who passed away peacefully in his sleep and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010. The Rev. Larry Garrard will officiate with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Johnson was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Glencoe. He was born in Glencoe and attended Glencoe High School. He was employed with the Alabama School of Trades/ Gadsden State Community College for 39 years. Mr. Johnson was the youngest of three sons born to the late Andrew Jackson Johnson Sr. and the late Lula Wilmore Johnson. He was preceded in death by his sons, Joel David Johnson and Robert "Bob" O. Johnson; grandson, David Todd Wilson; oldest brother, Thomas Franklin Johnson; and his middle brother, Byron Wilmore Johnson Sr.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years and 10 months, Audrey F. Johnson; his two daughters who loved him deeply, Elizabeth Johnson-Nolen and her husband of 15 years, John Henry Nolen, and Mary Alice Wilson and her husband, Jimmy David Wilson; granddaughters, Angela Wilson Morgan and her husband, Tony Morgan, and Traci Nicole Wilson Putman; grandson, Jonathon Tyler Wilson; great-grandchildren, Emma Lauren Morgan and Wil Cole Morgan; and sister, Ann Johnson Stearns.
Mr. Johnson was a happy man with an easy going nature who always made friends freely and easily. He was loved by so many and was known as "June" by his friends and family. "There will never be a kinder, more tender hearted, southern gentleman than my Daddy." – EJN
