

A celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Beth Dianne White Messer, 47, of Alabaster, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 12, 2014, after an extended illness. Rev. Lauil Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Glencoe. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Beth was born in Gadsden on June 25, 1967. She was a 1985 graduate of Litchfield High School. In December 1992, she graduated from the UAB School of Respiratory Therapy and worked for many years at HealthSouth and UAB Highlands Hospital in Birmingham as a respiratory therapist.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Doyle & Eunice Cox and James & Carrie White, and her precious dog, Nikki.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John Messer; children, Jasmine Brooks, Mason Messer, and Olivia Messer; mother, Sandra White; father, Fred (Lynn) White; brother, Brian White; sister, Lori (Don) Whitman; nieces, Carrington White and Meredith Whitman; mother-in-law, Linda Messer; brother-in-law, Jason Messer; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and her dogs, Zeke and Sheba.
Throughout her six-year battle with cancer, Beth showed incredible strength and courage, and she never gave up. Her faith was an inspiration to many. While she wanted to stay here, she knew where she would be when she left this earth.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Beth had many incredible, selfless caregivers during her illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Bondly, Bruno’s Cancer Center, Diane, Jo, and Optum Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Paul Williams, Jason Messer, Jerry Luther, Barney Sitz, Steven Williams, and Chuck Killough.
