

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, for Betty J. Edge, 83, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, February 4, 2013. Rev. Bill Parker and Rev. Lauil Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Betty was born in Gallant, AL May 9, 1929 to Hugh and Thenia Casson. She attended Southside Baptist Church.. Betty spent the last 28 years of her life working with her dear friends at Martins Family Clothing from where she retired in November of 2011.
She was preceded in death by parents, Hugh and Thenia Casson; sisters: Polly (Donald) Robertson, Audrey (Ralph) Tucker, Nell (Alvin) Jezek, and Ruby Casson; brother, Hoyt (Mildred) Casson; and husband, George W. Edge, Jr.
She is survived by son, Steve (Carol) Edge; grandson, Kevin (Erin) Edge; granddaughter, Kayla Edge Dodd; great-grandson, Jay Dodd; niece, Susan; nephews: Rickey, Rodney, Phillip, Randy, and Billy; her best friends in this world, whom she loved dearly: Ethel Wells and Ruby McBroom; her extended family from Martins: Teresa, Betty, Beverly, Justin, Judy, Jane, Lisa, Shane, Nancy, and Virginia: also her cherished friends and neighbors living in the Holy Comforter: Sue Gardner, Paula Hydeman, and Ruth Bell. The four were sisters, taking care of each other, sharing laughs and enjoying each day. Betty loved everyone there and enjoyed her last adventure “The Mardi Gras Parade.”
Mother, you have always been my rock and a soft shoulder for me to lean on. You were always there whenever I had a problem and I don’t know what I will do without you. I will miss you every day, but I know you are no longer in pain. I will love you forever mother.
Betty, I hope I helped comfort you during your illness. I told you I wouldn’t leave you and would do whatever would make you feel better. We have had a ton of laughs and I will miss you terribly. Love Carol.
Granny, I have so many memories of time spent with you throughout my life. I will treasure all of the happy times of my 33 years and hope that I was a good personal nurse for you as I promised. I love you so very much, and will miss you more than I can say. Love, Kayla.
Granny, over the past 30 years, you have been the best Granny anyone could have. I love you more than words could ever describe and I can’t wait to see you again one day! I am sure going to miss those egg sandwiches and tickling your knees. Love from your grandson!

Our family would like to thank Dr. Dwight Harper, Dr. Narayan and Amedysis Home Health and Hospice. A special thank you to Jan Hooks and May Smith, for your kindness, love, and fantastic care. Also, thank you to her nephew, Dr. Rodney Tucker for your daily patience and help through her sickness.
Pallbearers will be: Kevin Edge, Rodney Tucker , Rickey Tucker, Billy Connelley, Chris Colegrove, Mike Bryant, Joe Edge, and James Wells.
Honorary pallbearers will be: her friend, Mr. Bill Wakefield.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
