Billy Joe Hightower

Billy Joe Hightower, age 88, of Gadsden, AL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Pastor Tim Holland will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Billy was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking coffee, riding around and seeing the scenery, and taking long walks around the yard with Smokey. He was known as the mayor of Turkey Town. He also would joke that his birthday was St. Hightower’s Day. Billy was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed listening to gospel music on Sundays or any day of the week.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Lily Hightower and Sammy Hightower; brother, Doc Hightower; first wife, Linda Hightower; second wife, Carolyn Hightower; and nephew, Jerry Hightower.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary (Charles) Easterly; nephew, Lloyd (Amber) Hightower; great niece, Brittany Noe and her son Kyle; and grand pup, Smokey.

Pallbearers will be Charles Easterly, Brandon Latham, George Hanshew, Lloyd Hightower, Dennis Patterson, and Nick Mobley.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Gadsden Healthcare, Enhabit Hospice, and special friends Larry Westmoreland and Judy Hanshaw.

The family will accept friends from 1:30pm until the hour of the service at the cemetery.
