A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Church at Wills Creek with Rev. Larry Fuhrman officiating and eulogy given by Jeff Howell. Military honors will follow the memorial service. The family will accept friends at the church Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.
Mr. Kennedy retired from military service after 40 years. He served 12 years in the U S Army Reserves and 28 years in the National Guard.
After many years of service he retired from NCR as a computer programmer and also retired from the City of Southside as a computer programmer and director of Parks and Recreation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard B. Kennedy and Jimmie (Dover) Kennedy.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Cheryl Kennedy; sons, Matt (Nanette) Kennedy and Daks (Dana) Kennedy; step children, Haley (Corey) Wood and Jared Booker; grandchildren, Tanner, Garret, Dawson, Griffin and Katie; brothers, Clark (Barbara) Kennedy, Gary (Pat) Kennedy and Boykin Kennedy, several nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to Philip Ellison, Charles Nichols, employees and staff with Comfort Care Hospice especially, Monique, Emily and Ginger, Pastor Jason Ellen and The Church at Wills Creek.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Samaritan’s Purse.
