

Bro. Bobby Joe Winningham, age 85, of Rainbow City, AL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at McEntrye Baptist Church. Bro. Lauil Thompson will officiate. A private burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Bro. Winningham worked for many years at Gadsden Scaffold. He was a pastor from 1982 until recently when he had to retire due to health issues. He played and coached softball for many years and was fondly known as “Ace” to his players. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, and could fix anything put in front of him. Other than the Lord, his family was what was most important to him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Minnie Ruth Winningham; brothers, Thomas, Donald and Hoyt Winningham; sisters-in -law, Dot Winningham and Ann Winningham; and son-in-law, Larry Snell.
Survivors include wife of 65 years, Bobbie Jean Winningham; children, Katie Snell, Karen (Melton) Ledbetter, Buster (Patricia) Winningham, Beth (Kevin) Payne, Kathy (Chris) Thompson, Joey (Amanda) Winningham; brother, David (Artie) Winningham; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of McEntyre Baptist Church and all former members of his softball teams.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Riverview PCU and CCU doctors and nurses.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm prior to the service at the church.
