

Boyd Vaughn Eidson, age 83, of Southside, Alabama, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Church of the Highlands -Gadsden Campus, followed by the funeral service. Pastor Chapman Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Boyd graduated from Emma Sansom High School where he was a member of the Greatest Band in Dixie as a trumpet player and attended Gadsden State Trade School. He was employed with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for Forty-two years. Boyd enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. His greatest joy was his family, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as cousins and extended family. He never met a stranger and could talk and tell stories forever, he always knew “who to call to get things done”.
He enjoyed water skiing, trick skiing and boating on Lake Guntersville or the Coosa River. Cycling the Chief Ladiga trail or 30-A was also an enjoyable pastime. Beach vacations were an annual family trip that he started as the beach was his happy place. He loved dogs and truly enjoyed his daily visits from his neighbor dog, Reva, as she came for her treats. He was a Mason and was a member of the Dwight Masonic Lodge. He loved the lord and faithfully attended the Church of the Highlands.
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Moody Randall Eidson and Lois Nelms Eidson.
Boyd is survived by his children, Craig Eidson (Beverly), Kristi Kent (Barry), and Kendra Eidson; his grandchildren, Kelsey Eidson Garrison (Andrew), and Kyndal Hess Herring (Logan); great grandchildren, Emma Grace Garrison, Huntley Herring and Logyn Dru Herring.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Bynum, Mark Thornton, Andrew Garrison, Logan Herring, Stacey Rucks, and Mike Varnon,
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Nunn, Eddie Grubbs, David King, Lanny Starr, Gaylon Clay, and former co-workers of Goodyear.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials can be made to the Etowah County Humane Society Pet Rescue & Adoption Center, 4200 Brooke Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35904 or Church of the Highlands – Gadsden Campus,4409 Airport Road, Gadsden, AL 35904.
