
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Carl Helton, Jr., 73, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Carl, a Gulf State Steel Retiree, better known as “Bud” among his co-workers and peers, was said to have been a lively character. He brought his own brand of laughter and camaraderie to plant workers. In his presence there was never a dull moment on the job.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred Helton, Sr.; brother, Ronald Edward Helton; niece, Tammy Shadwrick; nephew, Eddie Barnes; and great-nephew, Chuck Shadwrick.
Carl is survived by his wife, Laumah Helton; daughters, Carla (Tony) Brooks, Myra (Tony) Edwards, Kim Klebine; and Laura Boyles; six grandchildren; one great-Grandchild; sisters, Vicki Helton (Ray) Green; special nieces, Betty Maddox, Jennifer Foster Thomas, and Rachael Foster Ellison; and sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and George Foster.
Pallbearers will be: Jason Thomas, Dewayne Klebine, George Foster, Omar Cunningham, Max Brannon, and Rampsee “Heavy” Hale.
