

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Charles J. “Red” Brackett, age 79, of Southside. Rev. Daryle Nichols will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Brackett married Martha Nix on January 1, 1957. They were blessed with two daughters. He was very proud of his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed watching them swim and play. Mr. Brackett enjoyed working in his yard and snow skiing. He was a member of Sheet Metal Union #48, Dwight Baptist Church and the Southside Jacks “Romeo” Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jewell Hibbs and Woodrow Brackett; and son-in-law, Glen C. Miller.
Mr. Brackett is survived by his wife, Martha Brackett; daughters, Lisa Brackett and Wendy Miller; granddaughter, Allison Shell; great-granddaughters, Molly and Brynn Woodside; sisters, Nan (Dan) Hudgins and Susan (Ray) Burroghs; and nephews, Butch, Robin, Johnny, Mike and Jeff.
Pallbearers will be Tim Campbell, Larry Wester, Jerry Don Mabrey, Jeff Richardson, Matt Wester, and Pat Thomas.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
