Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ashville United Methodist Church for Mrs. Christine Downing McCain, 93, Ashville, who passed away Monday, June 27, 2011. Dr. Belon Friday will officiate with burial to follow at Ashville Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. McCain was a medical social worker specializing with children in Washington, D.C., and in Alabama. She was also an artist as well as an art instructor. She was an active member of Ashville United Methodist Church and served many years as Sunday School teacher. She served as president of the PTA and was a member of the Ashville Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Oscar McCain II.
She is survived by her son, David Oscar (Beverly) McCain III; daughter, Susan Christine McCain; grandchildren, Tommy McCain, Katherine McCain and Abigal McCain.
Pallbearers will be members of Ashville United Methodist Church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ashville United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service.
