

Clyde was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. He was a graduate of Ramsey High School. At 17, he earned the badge of Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of Alabama, Birmingham with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He was President and owner of Porter Testing Services for 45 years. Clyde served on the board of NEBB, National Enviromental Balancing Board. He was also president and board member of MEBB, Midsouth Enviromental Balancing Board. He worked for the United States Department of State servicing American embassies around the world. He traveled extensively in this role and made many international friendships. He was also a member of Gadsden Kiwanis Club.
Clyde was a longtime member of Rainbow Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He loved his church family, Men’s Sunday School Class and Why Guys Bible Study. He said many times the sanctuary at Rainbow Presbyterian was truly built to glorify God. He will always be remembered for making sure the Christmas wreath was hung on the cross high in the front window.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Sadie Gay Porter and his brother, Warren Graves Porter (Carol) of Birmingham AL.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Medlin Porter; children, Chris Porter Summers (Stuart), Andrew Clyde Porter, Katie Webb Welch (Terry) and Wendy Webb Goodwin (David). He is survived by 8 grandchildren; Thomas and Forest Summers, Riley Grace and Grant Porter, Anna Kate and Lillie Reid Welch, Sara Elizabeth, Mary Reid and Anna Claire Goodwin; siblings Marguarite Porter Richards, Jacksonville, FL and Betty Porter Martin, Birmingham, AL. Also, his special pet, Esther.
A memorial service is scheduled at 2:00PM on Sunday, October 30th at Rainbow Presbyterian Church, 3220 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL with Dr. Dick Cain and Rev. Wade Hooper presiding.
