David Lynn Tucker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the age of 82. David worked for Northwest Airlines in Birmingham, Alabama for 25 years before retiring and starting his own business, Tucker Woodworks where he specialized in building custom cabinets for homes all over the state of Alabama. Over the years he developed a love for wood turning and was a member of the Alabama Woodturners Association. He spent most of his life shaping wood into beautiful pieces of art, from finely crafted furniture to intricate turnings. His craftsmanship earned him the title of "Master Woodworker," a title he wore with pride, always seeking to share his knowledge and passion with others. David was also an award-winning fisherman, spending countless hours outdoors enjoying the serenity of nature. He won numerous bass fishing tournaments and knew where to find the best fishing holes in Weiss Lake, Lake Guntersville, Neely Henry Lake and Logan Martin. On their fishing trips, he shared the love of fishing and fishing tips with his grandsons. Every time they went fishing, they always caught some fish, but much to their consternation, he always caught the most fish, even as he got older. He enjoyed spending time on Neely Henry Lake with family and friends. In fact, he was happiest when he was on the water. He also passed his love of water down to his children and grandchildren.
David's greatest legacy, however, lies in the way he loved and cared for his family. As a father, he was a constant source of support, wisdom, and encouragement. As a grandfather, he brought joy and laughter to the lives of his grandchildren. He could always be counted on for a prank or a joke and never missed out on a chance to be at a football, basketball, baseball game or tennis match. His grandchildren will miss their Papa very much but are fortunate to have had such a great man in their lives. David will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, laughter, and the way he made everyone feel valued. His impact will be felt by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; Joe and Lois Tucker; grandson Holden Farmer; siblings, William (Alice) Tucker, Billy (Imogene) Tucker, Junior (Ozella Langley) Cline, Milburne (Doris) Cline, Jewel (Bill) Chambers, Jo Ann (Val) Valdovinos, Mary (George) Morris, and Roy (Lou) Tucker.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Tucker; his children, April (Brad) Boswell, Dr. Misha Myers (Tiamore Jolly), and Christopher (Julie) Haskins; Bonus Children, Natalie (John) Farmer, Bret (Sharon) Wayne, grandchildren, Tucker and Connor Boswell, Tye Jolly, Meagan (Matt) Freeman, Allie Haskins, Rylie Haskins, Erica (Derek) Luchik, Austin (Alessandra) Wayne, Haylie Farmer, Hayden Farmer, Haliah Farmer, Harlow Farmer; Great Grandchildren, Graham Luchik, Bobby Roeback, Nathan Freeman, Mackenzie Freeman, Presley Freeman, Emmy Freeman, Griffin Freeman, Beckham Freeman and Brooks Freeman; special nieces, Sharon Tumlin and Jalyn (Bill) Luttrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for David will be held on March 8, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at First United Methodist of Gadsden.
A special thanks to Sarah Burke and Faynita London and the staff of Pro Health Hospice for their loving care and support.
